Lefteris se graduó de la escuela de música de Pallini y de la Universidad jónica de Corfú.  Ha ganado varias becas como la Fulbright, Onassis, la Ruth Shapiro y los premios Gerondelis, logrando así un título de Doctor de música del New England Conservatory, Boston Mass, donde también se desempeñó como profesor.
